Breathe life into your online products

Breathe life into your online products

We believe that better user experiences benefit everyone – from end users and retailers – to the eCommerce market as a whole. In a world where the reliance on online shopping continues to rise and adapt, it has never been more vital to provide engaging, yet accurate information to potential shoppers.

Ares allows businesses to display exceptionally high resolution 3D product models and interactive Augmented Reality replicas of their products for use in their online catalogues, directly in the browser, without the need for apps to be downloaded. This allows potential buyers to “try realistic products” in their own spaces, before committing to purchase.

Ares is an Augmented Reality eCommerce Solution. It was designed to combine 3D product modelling with and augmented reality experience, to give online shoppers a more realistic shopping experience.

Our clients send us a sample of each product they wish to scan. We complete the 3D scan of each product, and upload this into the Ares Portal. The client can then login to view and approve each scan. After the client is satisfied with the quality of each product scan, the products are returned to the client. All of the 3D scans will be available in the clients private account in Ares, for them to manage (with simple “publish” “unpublish” options) in order to add directly to their website product page. When users visit their product page, this item will be viewable as a high definition, real 3D model of the product. The user can also view items in their own space, or “try them on”. For example, putting sunglasses on their face to test the shape using augmented reality, or placing a sofa in their living room to ensure it fits. With Ares, it is also possible to track each goal conversion from your website traffic as it relates back to your 3D product models. This allows you to truly measure the success of your new product scans on your end users buying behaviour.

Ares has the ability to positively impact your platforms user experience. Metrics that are often referenced in being positively affected include: a reduction in product returns, as a result of a more realistic product expectation being set in the first instance; increased goal conversions (cart completions) as a result of users being able to make more informed and immersive buying decisions; and an increase in user satisfaction, as a result of anticipating need and exceeding expectation.

Ares is a valuable addition to your eCommerce strategy if you have a product listing page on your website or app. Ares can only scan physical products, so it is not suited for purely digital businesses.

Costs vary, based on a bespoke analysis of your requirements. The end cost depends on several factors, including:

  1. Product type requiring scanning (size, complexity, surface)
  2. Number of product scans required
  3. Support in implementing on your platform (if required)
  4. Site traffic volume generated
  5. Volume of data used

Small, simple scans begin at £100 per scan. We also offer bulk order discounts.

Augmented reality, otherwise known as AR in its shortened form, is a form of experience reality (XR). Compared to virtual reality (VR) which is entirely artificial, AR combines reality with a elements of a virtual nature. It is an interactive experience, that combines the real world with computer-generated elements. The three components that define AR as a system include: real time interaction’ accurate 3D representation of virtual and real objects; and a combination of the real and the virtual. This combination provides a heightened user experience.

3D modelling in the digital context, is a realistic replication of a three-dimensional object. In Ares, we use a high resolution and detail scanner, which physically maps each item from all angles. These angles are captured and reconstructed to create an accurate and highly detailed digital replica of each object. In the context of eCommerce, this allows for online shoppers to view real products in 3D, as opposed to 2D images. When it comes to making informed shopping decisions online, this empowers the user to be more fully informed, and have realistic expectations to the details, features and quality of the true product.

Augmented reality is hugely powerful in eCommerce as crucially, it builds trust within end users and empowers them to make better informed purchase decisions. Trust is established during the purchase – delivery process. When a user purchases an item online, but receives an item that falls short of their expectations, trust is eroded. When users are able to view and interact with a real and highly detailed three-dimensional version, the risk of falling short of expectation is greatly diminished. This also has a positive knock-on effect on the return rates of products. The process of empowering your users to make better informed purchase decisions not only supports the initial phase of building a stronger eCommerce strategy (consideration and conversion phases), but it also positively impacts on the user experience and trust in making future purchases through the same platform. Similarly, it has the potential to reduce product return rates, whilst preventing poor user reviews and strain on your customer service department.

Yes, you can upload your own models. We use .USDZ and .GLB model formats. It is best to keep in mind, when considering this approach, that your user AR experience is strongly based on the quality of the model, and that uploading your own models in a lesser quality format can impact your results.

We provide an end-to-end solution, or, just the pieces you need, depending on what you require. This includes logistics, 3D scanning of your products, uploading models to your Ares account, and final model quality checks. This ensures your experience with us is simple and easy to follow. You only have to make your products available for the agreed time of scanning. After that, using the Ares platform, you can easily and instantly start using AR for your business.

For pre-sales support, you can always reach us for questions at

For account specific support, your dedicated account contact will be able to assist you with any enquiry.

Of course! We provide platform-agnostic solutions that can be easily implemented on any website.

The biggest time restriction (once you have access to the Ares platform) is the scanning of your products. This can vary, depending on the size and complexity of your products requiring scanning, and shipping time. Once the scans are completed and approved, they appear within your Ares account very quickly for you to use.

AR is supported in both PC/Android and on Mac/iOS, although older mobile devices lack the AR feature (iPhones older than 6, Android 7.0 and older)

However, the performance of the Augmented Reality feature may vary depending on the model of your device.

Absolutely, this is exactly what AR is designed for. It allows you to show something in greater and more realistic detail, to move it around a room or space, interact with it, rotate it, show different angles, zoom in and examine the product.

Yes, you can move them around, change their size, rotate them and with the new feature you can try things on, for example, hats or helmets (works only on iPhones).

On devices with no camera, you will be able to experience a 360-degree product view. This allows you to examine products in a way that isn’t possible with standard photos. These have more depth, and details of each product.
