Just over a week ago we successfully launched the first of Wacoal’s new B2C sites. The Freya Lingerieonline store marks the beginning of an exciting project to enhance the digital presence for each of the Wacoal brands, offering a new way to shop for the UK.

Wacoal is a manufacturer of women’s lingerie and underwear, founded in 1949 in Japan by Koichi Tsukamoto. Their mission is to be a brand that always supports women’s minds and bodies, whether on calm ordinary days or on special celebratory days.

They pioneered a new shopping experience early into their move into the American market by partnering Wacoal’s fit experts with sales associates in department stores across the country to educate consumers about the fit and quality of Wacoal products. This led them to being the number one selling bra in department stores in 2005. They currently manufacture the brands Wacoal, b.tempt’d, Elomi, Eveden, Fantasie, Freya, and Goddess.

This major milestone for Wacoal sees them moving them away from trading predominately through wholesalers and multi-brand retailers. The new transactional site enables a unique selling proposition for them, stocking the entire collection of Freya Lingerie in a single place. It also gives them far greater control of the brand experience they are able to offer to their retail customers.

And early signals from the launch are incredibly positive. The brand has seen a double-digit percentage growth over forecasts in the first week alone, and all this through a soft launch to the market.

Eclipse has an established relationship with Wacoal, having developed their B2B sites already. Both the B2B and B2C platforms have been created using SAP Commerce.

SAP Commerce offers a personalised, comprehensive e-commerce experience with end-to-end commerce processes and is virtually unparalleled in its abilities in the market.

This is the first B2C transactional site built for the Wacoal family of brands in the UK, along with a rest of the world website, laying an excellent foundation for the rest of the Wacoal brands multi-language sites currently in development. Stay tuned as the others continue to roll out in the coming months.
